Plaster Bust of Jupiter
Roman Art
Measurements: 33 X 52H cm
Code: IG-1154
The original of this bust was discovered in Otricoli (Umbria) towards the end of the 18th century. Housed in the Vatican Museums, the work represents Jupiter, the Roman deity whose symbols are lightning and thunder. His thick hair, braided beard, and prominent brow suggest that the work was inspired by the depiction of the Greek god Zeus.
